FREE LEGAL AID CAMP AT BHALSWA VILLAGE, JAHANGIRPURI, DELHI

Legal Assistance Forum in association with Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and 'Society for Securing Justice', an NGO, organized a free legal aid camp at Bhalaswa Village, Jahangirpuri, Delhi. Leaflets were distributed in the area about the camp. Seven lawyers from Supreme Court (Mr. Vijay Hansaria, Sr. Advocate, Ms. Shobha, Ms. Rekha Pandey, Mr. Jasbir Singh Malik, Mr. Tripathi, Mr. Jayesh K.U. and Mr. Anupam Mishra) attended the camp on behalf of LAF alongwith representatives of SSJ.
The team of lawyers attended the locales of the area to address their grievances. Some of the grievances/complaints put forth and addressed are as under:-
Several residents of the area came with the complaint that the Fair Price Shop is not supplying them the quantity of food grains. Another set of complaints came in large number that they have applied for Ration card but they have not been made by the department. Another grievance in relation to the ration card was that though Ration Cards but the same has not been stamped or renewed and because of which they are not entitled to get the ration from the fair price shop.
LAF is taking of the issue of ration card with the concerned Government Department so that remedial action can be taken.
Two ladies in the name of Rashida and Kamlesh met us to enquire about any scheme for widow pension and how to get that. LAF is gathering necessary information about the widow pension scheme of the Delhi Government and to guide/assist them in applying for the same with requisite documents to avail the benefits of that scheme.
Sh. Rajesh Gupta wanted to know that is there any scheme of Delhi Government which takes care of education expenditure of a handicapped girl child. Her daughter met with an accident and her one leg was amputated.
One person came with a query that his name has been falsely implicated in a murder case and the police has already recorded his statement. He said he is completely innocent and that does he need to do anything further to avoid any complication. We have advised him that for the time being he should wait for further progress in the investigation and in case of any adverse development he can approach us for further advice but right now he does not need do anything more.
Sh. Vidyasagar complained that his neighbour is constantly causing problems in his peaceful living and asked as to what action he can take to restrain him. LAF have advised him to make a complaint to the concerned police station regarding the same – LAF would follow up this case, if necessary.
Sh. Sanjay Aggarwal has filed a criminal complaint at Jalpaiguri, W.B. stating that his brothers are threatening him when he demanded his share in the family business of Ration Shop. He was advised to file a complaint to the Licensing Authority in West Bengal stating that his no objection was not taken while transferring the license to his brother and/or file a civil suit in W.B.
Sh. Satya Pal Singh enquired about a civil dispute regarding interference of his neighbour to his business premises. He was advised to file an injunction suit in the concerned civil court against the disturbing neighbours. He was also advised to contact LAF for free legal assistance through DLSA if so entitled.
Sri Faizal Khan, original resident of Madhubani, Bihar had a query about his prospects of inheriting a share of the property left behind by his deceased brother-in-law. He was advised in detail regarding the law of succession amongst Muslims and was informed that neither brother-in-law nor sister of a deceased person comes as a class one heir.
A report regarding the camp has been submitted to the Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for taking follow up action.
